For some reason, Drake decided it would be a good idea to call Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian a “groupie” on his new album.

In the song “Middle of the Ocean” off Drake’s joint album with 21 Savage, released on Friday, Drake raps, “Sidebar, Serena, your husband a groupie / He claim we don’t got a problem but / No, boo, it is like you comin’ for sushi / We might pop up on ’em at will like Suzuki.”

It’s currently unclear what caused Drake to shade Ohanian in the song. Some are speculating it has something to do with the fact that Serena and Drake had a little thing going back in 2015.

Drake has also rapped about Serena before, in his 2013 song “Worst Behavior.”

He was in attendance at Williams’ Wimbledon match in 2018, the year after Alexis Ohanian and Serena Williams were married.

Naturally, it didn’t take very long for Reddit co-founder Ohanian to get wind of the diss and issue a response in a very subtle fashion with a well-placed dagger.

“The reason I stay winning is because I’m relentless about being the absolute best at whatever I do — including being the best groupie for my wife & daughter,” Ohanian wrote on Twitter following a series of basically unrelated tweets.

Drake calling Serena Williams’ husband a “groupie” did not go over very well with the internet

If Serena Williams’ (and pretty much everyone else’s) response to Ohanian’s tweet is any indication, Drake just took another major “L.”

Drizzy just can’t help himself, can he?

“Apparently being an awesome and supportive husband and dad gets you labeled ‘Square’ or ‘Groupie.’ The world appreciate and needs more supportive partners,” one person tweeted.

Poor Drake.

“Stop, stop, he’s already dead!”

Even legendary singer Anita Baker got in on the Drake pile-on.

Ouch.
