Shannon Sharpe Takes Blame And Apologizes For Fight With Ja Morant’s Father At Lakers Game

Pro Football Hall of Fame member and Fox Sports: Undisputed host Shannon Sharpe landed himself in a bit of hot water over the weekend.

Sharpe got involved in an altercation with both members of the Memphis Grizzlies and Tee Morant, the father of Grizzlies star Ja Morant.

The incident began when Sharpe was seen trading trash talk with Grizzlies players, most notably Morant and teammate Dillon Brooks.

Prior to the half, Ja Morant could be seen telling the former NFL star to “sit yo a** down.” That kicked things off and led to security having to separate Sharpe, players, and Morant’s father.

“They didn’t want this smoke, Dave,” Sharpe told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “They do all that talking and jockeying and I ain’t about that jockeying. It started with Dillon Brooks. I said he was too small to guard LeBron. He said, ‘F— me.’ I said, ‘F— you’ back.’ He started to come at me, and I said, ‘You don’t want these problems.’ And then Ja came out of nowhere talking. He definitely didn’t want these problems. Then the dad came and he obviously didn’t want no problems.

Sharpe and Morant’s father later reconciled.

On Monday’s episode of Undisputed, Sharpe took the blame for the incident.

Shannon Sharpe Says He Takes ‘Full Accountability’ For Altercation With Memphis Grizzlies

Host Jennifer Hale asked Sharpe about the incident during the episode and he was quick to shoulder the blame.

“As you probably have heard or seen, Friday night at the Lakers game, I want to apologize for my behavior,” Sharpe said . “You know guys, I’ve preached for the last six and a half years, responsibility and accountability.

“I take full responsibility for what transpired,” he continued. “It does not matter what Dillon Brooks said or how many times he said it. Me being the responsible person, me having the platform that I have and having so many people look up to me, I was wrong. I should have lowered the temperature in the arena, instead, I turned the temperature up and I let it get out of hand.”

Ultimately, no punches were thrown and no one was hurt. But it’s an embarrassing look for all involved and Sharpe comes out looking better than he had by apologizing.
