Shedeur Sanders Fires Back At Anonymous Pac-12 Coach Who Claimed That’s Stat Padding

The Colorado Buffaloes have been a pleasant surprise in their first year under new head coach Deion Sanders.

And perhaps the primary reason for that has been the play of Shedeur Sanders, their quarterback.

Deion’s youngest son has been nothing short of a revelation for the Buffs.

Through five games, Shedeur Sanders is has completed nearly 75 percent of his passes for 1,781 yards, 15 touchdowns and two interceptions.

Had Colorado won either of its last two games against Oregon or USC, Sanders would undeniably be at the heart of the Heisman Trophy conversation/

Yet at least one Pac-12 coach is unsold.

“I think they want to rack up some stats for Shedeur. He really holds on to the ball a long time. I think he takes sacks because he doesn’t want to affect his completion percentage,” an anonymous Pac-12 assistant said recently in an article for The Athletic. “He’s playing a little different than he did earlier in the season. Before he showed that he was willing to step up and escape through the B-gaps. Now, he’s retreating more.”

Sanders didn’t take long to fire back, sharing his opinion of the anonymous coach in the latest video blog entry for Well Off Media.

“That coach, who ever said that, is a goofy,” Sanders says at the 2:45 mark of the above video. “He(‘s) lame. And put that in the video. I wish it was on Instagram. On god, I would’ve responded to that. Whatever coach said that is goofy.

“Right hand to God, he’d rather have me than his (quarterback).”

It’s hard to argue with Sanders’ logic.

He’s been one of the best quarterbacks in the nation in 2023.

Stat padding or not, the way he’s played has been extremely beneficial to the Buffs. And it’s hard to imagine Colorado coaches would want him to change a thing.
