Shohei Ohtani has been a superstar in the MLB for several years now. However, he may have reached legend status after securing the WBC win for Japan.

However, his contract situation with the Los Angeles Angels is one to monitor, as Ohtani is due to hit free agency in the 2024 offseason.

Whether he re-signs with LA or ends up hitting the open market, Shohei Ohtani is going to get paid a massive deal.

One sports analyst is predicting that the Angels star is going to make history with his new contract. Buster Olney of ESPN predicts that Ohtani is going to make over $600 million on his new deal.

If that’s the case, then Shohei Ohtani is going to shatter Mike Trout’s current record of $426.5 million.

It only makes sense considering Ohtani is dominant both on the mound and at the plate.

This year, the Angels star is set to make $30 million. Although that’s a large chunk of change, it still feels like a bargain deal for Los Angeles.

If they’re unable to re-sign Ohtani, then he’s going to garner plenty of attention as a free agent next offseason. Especially if he’s able to continue playing at a high level.

There really is no reason to believe he won’t. For that reason, next offseason is going to be interesting.

Keep an eye on Shohei Ohtani throughout the 2023 season, as he’s likely going to tear it up as usual.
