The NFL Draft projections on Alabama QB Jalen Milroe are up and down at this point in time. Some have the passer go early in the first round. Others believe he’ll fall to Day 2.
One team rumored to be interested was the Pittsburgh Steelers. The franchise was reportedly intrigued by the dual threat star’s ceiling.
Milroe is an interesting prospect. His athleticism and ability to extend plays are pros, as is his arm strength. Unfortunately, inconsistency in the passing game was seen throughout much of the 2024 campaign.
The quarterback finished the year with 11 interceptions in 13 games. Turnovers proved costly in losses to Oklahoma, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, and Michigan.
To further boost his draft stock, he accepted an invite to the Senior Bowl. Those struggles reared their heads again throughout the event.

Despite the inconsistencies, the Steelers were said to have fallen in love with his talent. Andrew Fillipponi said a number of scouts believed he could thrive in the Steel City.

Mike Tomlin got a chance to see Milroe at the Senior Bowl. Soon after, contrasting reports on the team’s interest surfaced on social media.
Mike DeFabo of The Athletic says he’s hearing the “exact opposite” on Pittsburgh’s view of Jalen Milroe. That lack of interest, however, has less to do with his play and more to do with his draft projection.
I’m hearing pretty much the exact opposite.
The Steelers believe Jalen Milroe will be picked well before they’d be comfortable taking that risk. https://t.co/C2Bb3bkscS

DeFabo says the Steelers think Milroe will be gone well before they can get the chance to draft him at No. 21. They also already have Russell Wilson and Justin Fields in the QB room.
The team may not need quarterback help at this point, and even if they did, the organization isn’t sure Milroe would be available. That’s good news for the Alabama product given the current uncertainty surrounding his draft standing. We could see the signal caller go earlier rather than later when the selection process rolls around.
