The Dallas Cowboys defense got even better on Tuesday as the team announced it would be adding Stephon Gilmore to the roster. The All-Pro cornerback is a former Defensive Player of the Year, and he’s racked up 29 interceptions over his 11-year career. That mark ranks sixth among active players.

Gilmore led the league in picks with the Patriots back in 2019 on his way to DPOY honors. He’s also landed Pro Bowl appearances as a member of the Panthers and Bills.

The former first-round selection signed with Indy on a two-year contract last year, starting all 16 games in the Colts’ defensive backfield. Now, he’s on the move, once again.

Dallas traded a fifth-round pick for the defender, immediately bolstering its secondary. The veteran should slot in opposite Cowboys star Trevon Diggs to give the team a more than formidable duo.

Fans were quick to comment on the transaction as they posted messages of excitement on social media.

Is this the NFL’s best cornerback duo?

Many are surprised that it only took a fifth-round pick to lure Stephon Gilmore away from the Colts.

Even fans of rival teams are impressed with the addition.

While he’s on the backend of his career, Stephon Gilmore certainly has more left in the tank. We’ll see how he performs with his new squad as Dallas looks to get back to the playoffs.
