After going No. 1 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft to the Tennessee Titans, Cam Ward had what some would consider a difficult rookie season.
The quarterback out of Miami completed just 59.8 percent of his passes for 3,169 yards, 15 touchdowns, and seven interceptions across 17 starts, and the Titans went just 3-14 overall.
But Ward has proven throughout his football career that he won’t let a small setback define his future. After all, he went from Incarnate Word, to Washington State, to Miami in college and showed the world what he can do when he’s at his best.
So ahead of year two with the Titans, Ward told members of the media that he made significant changes in the offseason, including a notable weight loss.
Titans QB Cam Ward Dropped 10 Pounds In The Offseason
Last season, Ward was listed at 6-foot-2 and 219 pounds. This time around, he’s coming into camp significantly leaner, at just 209 pounds, and he gave a good explanation for the change.
“I think it’ll help me with durability,” Ward said via ESPN‘s Turron Davenport. “Just being faster, getting up in the pocket, and trying to play my speed. I watch my diet more, continue to have more cardio, just work on my body, just now here and when I’m away from the building.”
Ward noted that he didn’t need to make any drastic changes in order to drop the weight. Instead, he simply made dietary changes that involved monitoring his intake of calories, protein, and carbs.
New head coach Robert Saleh was impressed with the early results, especially the health of Ward’s right shoulder, which had plagued him through the 2025 season.
“His arm is perfectly healthy,” Saleh said. “He’s slinging the ball and has got some good velocity on it.”
Tennessee is still likely a long way away from contending for anything meaningful. But a healthy and fit Cam Ward is a big first step toward getting there.
