Just days ago, Tulane star basketball player Teshaun Hightower had very real hopes of making it to the NBA. Today, he sits in a jail cell with the rest of his life in the balance.

Hightower, who led the Green Wave in scoring last season and just declared for the 2020 NBA Draft, was arrested Saturday and charged with murder in connection with a shooting homicide in Stockbridge, Georgia, earlier this month.

TMZ reports that the 22-year-old and five other men showed up at 24-year-old Devante Long’s house at around 10:49 PM on April 8, a dispute broke out shortly after and shots were fired. Long was reportedly struck by the gunfire, and rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
