TGL, the newest golf league set to launch, might not get off the ground as expected. The new weeknight golf league with Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy as the faces of the brand appears to have hit a setback as a photo showing the TGL’s SoFi Center roof collapsed overnight in Florida.

The league is (was?) set to launch on November 28th with 24 PGA Tour stars involved. Events will be held at TGL’s SoFi Center in Palm Beach, Florida and there have been hellacious storms here in Florida over the past 24 hours, particularly in Southeast Florida. Conditions are expected to worsen into Thursday as well.

The popular @FlushingItGolf account shared a photo of TGL’s SoFi Center with a collapsed roof, an image they say was shared with them by the @luckiestgolfer account on X (formerly Twitter).

According to an article that just popped up on Golf Digest as I was writing this, the ‘partial roof collapse’ occurred during a power outage in Palm Beach, Florida.

A spokesman from TGL has released the following statement:

“An overnight failure to the temporary power system used during the construction phase caused partial deflation and limited damage to the air-supported dome section of the site. The dome section has been further deflated by our crew and will remain down while they work to remedy the situation. There were no injuries, and no technology was impacted. Other work on site will continue.”

Af first glance, it might look like nothing more than a tent that collapsed but the damage could be extensive and it’s quite possible the league which is set to launch in 13 days might face setbacks.

Their most recent Instagram activity was welcoming Sahith Theegala to the Los Angeles Golf Club team on TGL. And on Twitter as well as on YouTube, they shared a video about ‘timeouts coming to TGL.’

When finished, TGL’s SoFi Center will be 250,000 square feet and hold 2,000 spectators for TGL events on Tuesday nights.
