A 2015 episode of The Simpsons correctly predicted that NC State and Duke would face off on March 31st in an NCAA Tournament matchup. Clips of that episode are now going viral on social media.

That premonition came true this season with the Wolfpack and Blue Devils squaring off on Sunday – March 31st.

The scene starts in a Homer Simpson daydream where he celebrates a sober streak running through St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, and the NCAA Tournament. In the clip, Homer is seen wearing a Duke t-shirt while holding an NC State themed flag.

Notice the date at the beginning of the scene – 3/31.

Fast forward nearly a decade, and that March 31st matchup is taking place.

NC State’s been on an incredible tear, winning the ACC Tournament book a ticket to the Big Dance before winning each of their first three March Madness contests to make the Elite Eight.

Duke, meanwhile, lost to the Wolfpack in the ACC Tourney before ripping off three wins over Vermont, James Madison, and Houston.

This final meeting comes with a Final Four appearance on the line.

North Carolina governor Roy Cooper was ready for the blockbuster showdown, recreating that Simpsons scene in a photo op.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen the popular television correctly predict future events. Those include Donald Trump’s presidency and the 2018 World Cup Final matchup.

Unfortunately, in this most recent instance, a winner was not given. Homer Simpson woke up from his daydream on a barstool in a drunken stupor before viewers see the contest play out on the court.
