Dana White Should Change His Target Date And Hold Conor McGregor’s Return At The Sphere

The Sphere in Las Vegas is not currently booked past the middle of February outside of four nights in April for Phish. That includes June 29.

Could Dana White use the empty calendar to make one of the biggest moves in sports history?! There is a lot of chatter about the UFC’s interest in the Sphere and how it could set up nicely for Conor McGregor’s return.

Should such an event come to fruition, it would be one of the highest-grossing PPV events of all-time.

McGregor, who has not fought since 2021, announced his return to the sport over the weekend. He is set to fight Michael Chandler at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on the 29th of June.

Obviously, there is a lot of time between now and then for things to change. Like the venue, perhaps!

White, who is “obsessed” with the Sphere, vowed to put on the greatest fight in history at the world’s most viral entertainment venue. The president of the UFC later announced that it would take place on Mexican Independence day, which is on Sept. 14.

However, just three months prior, McGregor is going to make his long-awaited comeback. His return to the octagon is going to be a marquee event.

What if — here me out — the Sphere and White speed things up? What if McGregor fought Chandler in front of the world’s largest LED screen instead of at T-Mobile? There is just a 2,000-person difference in terms of capacity between the two venues. Let’s get it done!

It is possible that the draw of McGregor might actually be large enough to prevent such a collaboration from happening. His fight against Chandler will do numbers regardless of where it’s held. Hosting a separate fight at the Sphere will pull viewership for a lesser card.
