Mike Krzyzewski, better known to most as ‘Coach K,’ is officially retiring from basketball at the end of this season. After 42 years as the head coach of Duke University, Coach K will retire with at least (depending on how the year ends) five national titles, 12 Final Four appearances, 15 ACC tournament championships and 12 ACC regular season championships.

The 74-year-old is a three-time Naismith College Coach of the Year, a five-time ACC Coach of the Year, has been inducted into both basketball hall of fames and won three gold medals as the head coach of the U.S. men’s basketball team. Needless to say, he is well-decorated.

Prior to his time in Durham, Krzyzewski began his career as the head coach of Army, his alma mater. Coach K took over the Black Knights after serving five years as an officer in the U.S. Army after playing point guard under head coach Bob Knight at the U.S. Military Academy.

Whenever this season comes to a close for Duke, Krzyzewski’s distinguished career will come to a close at age 75. Although there is no telling how far the Blue Devils will go in the postseason, his final regular season game is set and it’s a big one.

On March 5, 2022, Duke will host the North Carolina Tar Heels. It is a massive in-state rivalry bout to begin with, but Coach K’s final game makes it one of the biggest in school history.

As a result, ticket prices are absolutely insane.

When this article was written, at 10:30am EST on February 1st, the cheapest ticket across all secondary market websites is $3,530 and that requires the purchase of two tickets. For just one, single ticket, it will cost $4,487 just to get in the door.

Here is the current breakdown:

  • Stubhub —
    • Single ticket: $4,978 (upper deck corner) — $50,000 (floor seats)
    • Two tickets: $3,530 (upper deck baseline) — $79,988 (upper level half court)
  • Vivid Seats —
    • Single ticket: $4,487 (upper deck corner) — $11,624 (upper deck sideline)
    • Two tickets: $3,580 (upper deck baseline) — $16,905 (upper deck corner)

As for the students, the demand was crazy. The university issued a very difficult test to determine which students would be allowed to camp outside of Cameron Indoor Stadium for the game. They are already starting to sleep outside of the arena and the game is not for another month.
