Tim Brewster and Danny Kanell got into it online this week after a viral video of the Colorado coach made its way around the internet. The clip showed the newly appointed position coach addressing his team for one of the first times.

In the video, which has caused quite a stir online, Brewster is seen shouting orders to players on the team. The prominent college football analyst took a shot at the Buffaloes staffer after seeing it.

Brewster bursts into the room like a drill sergeant yelling orders at his troops. He immediate says, “When I say stand tall, I want your a— bouncing out of your seats.”

“Stand tall, sit your a– back down. Stand tall, sit your a– back down,” he shouts.

This goes on for some time before the tight ends coach gets his players to mimic him in a “We coming!” chant, all still while screaming at full volume.

The authoritarian approach can be seen below, and it rubbed a few folks the wrong way.

One of those people was hot take expert Danny Kanell, who was immediately critical of the coach’s style.

If you ever wondered why college coaches don’t work in the NFL… this in a nutshell is why.

The college football personality suggests that college coaches use control as motivation which might not work at the professional level. Many agreed with him on the topic.

Tim Brewster clapped back at Kanell, though, pulling out his resume as an argument. He insists that there are a few former pros that would disagree.

Hey Danny, I coached 5 years in the NFL and would like to think was very successful, ask Antonio Gates.

While the majority of his career has taken place at the college level, Brewster did coach in the NFL with the Broncos and Chargers. And he did so with some pretty successful offenses.

He was held in such high regard that he was named an assistant head coach while in San Diego.

Brewster’s point seemingly negates Kanell’s argument, but fans were still divided on the topic.

One person wrote, “This was still cringe and weird but good luck with that,” while another stated, “I’m rocking with you coach!”

Luckily, we won’t really need to see if his coaching style will work in the NFL since he’s prepping for his first season in Boulder. Deion Sanders and Co. are hoping to make some noise in the PAC 12 this season.
