The Minnesota Timberwolves have released a statement following a disturbing viral video posted by star player Anthony Edwards. The guard is in hot water over homophobic comments made in a clip released on social media this week.

The video, which is now making its rounds on the internet, shows him belittling a random group of men standing shirtless across the street from his car. It seems he went out of his way to capture the footage on his phone, making fun of the bystanders unprovoked.

He has since issue an apology for his actions, posting the following comments on Twitter.

“What I said was immature, hurtful, and disrespectful, and I’m incredibly sorry. It’s unacceptable for me or anyone to use that language in such a hurtful way, there’s no excuse for it, at all. I was raised better than that!”

While he’s received some heat for the disrespectful act, his team had not been contacted for comment. On Monday evening, the Timberwolves officially released a statement on the Anthony Edwards situation.

The team released an official statement on the situation Monday, with Minnesota Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly saying the following.

“We are disappointed in the language and actions Anthony Edwards displayed on social media. The Timberwolves are committed to being an inclusive and welcoming organization for all and apologize for the offense this has caused to so many.”

We’ll have to wait and see if anything comes from the situation in terms of a fine or further punishment.
