Tito Ortiz’s UFC days are behind him. But, the 41-year-old former UFC lightweight heavyweight champion and UFC Hall of Famer is one of the richest fighters the sport has ever seen, amassing a $15 million fortune during his career. He’s also raking in paychecks as the CEO of the Punishment Athletics MMA equipment and clothing line.

Ortiz closed out his 2016 with a hefty payday by betting that Amanda Nunes exceptional striking would be too much for Ronda Rousey to combat in UFC 207. Forty eight seconds after the bell rang last Friday, Ortiz’s $50,000 gamble proved to be a good one–like $77,500 good. He took to Instagram to brag about his winnings, accompanied with the caption, “You have to love easy bets! #ufc207”

Ortiz joins the ranks of famed gambler “Vegas Dave” who won $240,000 by betting $20,000 Holly Holm would best Ronda Rousey last year.

I should have emptied out all $72 in my account to throw it on Nunes. Another missed opportunity. Oh well, new year, new me.

Matt’s love of writing was born during a sixth grade assembly when it was announced that his essay titled “Why Drugs Are Bad” had taken first prize in D.A.R.E.’s grade-wide contest. The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
