  • Tom Brady announced his retirement from the NFL following the 2021-22 season.
  • Despite the announcmenets, many NFL fans and reporters don’t necessarily believe the future Hall of Famer.
  • One NFL Insider believes Brady will play for the San Francisco 49ers next season.

After 22 seasons and seven Super Bowl titles, the legendary Tom Brady finally decided to walk away from the game following the 2021-22 season.

Despite the fact that Brady appeared to make his retirement official, a large portion of NFL fans and analysts don’t actually believe him and believe that he will, in fact, play next season. One of those NFL analysts, insider Mike Florio who runs ProFootballTalk, says that he not only believes that Brady will play next season, but that he will do so with the San Francisco 49ers, which is the team he grew up rooting for as a young boy growing up in 1980’s California.

“I think Tom Brady will play for the 49ers in 2022,” Florio writes on ProFootballTalk. “I don’t know that he will. I’m not predicting that he will. But I have a feeling that he will. If he doesn’t, he doesn’t. If he does, many will be surprised. I won’t be.”

“What have we heard over and over regarding Brady’s football career? What more does he have to prove? Nothing. But he has never played for the team he grew up rooting for. And that team — the 49ers — has a Super Bowl-ready roster. Just add quarterback.”

As Florio notes, it won’t be as easy as the Niners simply signing the 44-year-old Brady — who will turn 45-years-old before next season begins — as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers still control the rights to the future Hall of Famer, meaning the 49ers would have to trade for him.
