One of the biggest stories of the NFL season so far has been something that has nothing to do with wins or loss, as a rumored romance between future Hall of Fame Kansas City Chiefs tight End Travis Kelce and the biggest star in music, Taylor Swift, has created a media circus.
The potential romance, which first blew up as a news story last Tuesday, has captivated the NFL eco-sphere.
The normally serious ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter has made joking references to it, and Ian Eagle made a great joke about the supposed fling.
Up to this point, the relationship has not had many details, aside from the pair was just “hanging out.” But, The Messenger revealed some new details Wednesday evening, giving credibility to the situation.
“She and Travis have hung out twice, and it’s nothing serious. She thinks he is very charming, and they have been texting this last week,” the insider exclusively tells The Messenger. “He is a little embarrassed at how much attention they are getting, but he has told her he would love to continue seeing her.”
The source adds: “They are seeing where things go.” However, the football star has some stiff competition for the singer’s attention. “Her friends are always playfully suggesting people to set her up with,” the source continues.
As a frequent consumer of Taylor Swift news, this smells of her publicist, Tree Paine, with a controlled leak. Taylor’s side wants to control the narrative on this, after it had been mostly Travis’ side doing it.
Travis Kelce’s brother, Eagles star center Jason, joked on Wednesday that the rumors of the two dating were 100% true. The Kelce’s have a ton more media exposure and availability than Swift, who rarely does interviews. Along with their podcast, ‘New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce’, they have weekly media availability and postgame interviews every week. So, it makes sense for Taylor Swift’s side to leak some stuff.
Notably, the Chiefs travel to the New York Jets in Week 4 for Sunday Night Football. Could Taylor Swift make an appearance at the game?
