It’s officially Tua Tagovailoa time in Miami. According to Adam Schefter, the Dolphins are naming their 2020 first-round pick the starting quarterback ahead of next Sunday’s home matchup against the Rams. Miami is on a bye this week.

Tagovailoa took the field for the Dolphins for the first time in his career last Sunday against the Jets going 2-for-2 through the air for nine yards.

The switch at quarterback for Miami is an interesting one. Ryan Fitzpatrick has led this team to a 3-3 start to the season and has Miami right in the hunt in the AFC East. Fitzpatrick has 12 total touchdowns on the year and is completing 70.1% of his passes, it’s not like he was playing poorly and the Dolphins were seemingly forced into throwing Tagovailoa out there.

It’s no secret that the future in Miami revolves around Tagovailoa, but most thought the Tua era wouldn’t start until later in the season and maybe not even until next season if Fitzpatrick could keep the team afloat.

Head coach Brian Flores clearly thinks the time is now for Tua to take over this team.

The Dolphins host the Rams on Sunday, Nov. 1 at 1:00 PM EST.
