An Old Tweet Is Resurfacing As The Angels Continue To Waste Mike Trout And Shohei Ohtani’s Careers

An old tweet from the 2021 season is resurfacing as the Angels continue to waste the careers of Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani. After being swept by the Baltimore Orioles, Los Angeles has now fallen to 38-49 on the year.

LA actually got off to a great start, looking as though they’d be competing for a World Series crown in a competitive AL West. But after starting the year 27-17, the Angels have now lost 32 of their last 43 games. That includes a 14-game losing skid in late May.

That led to the team firing manager Joe Maddon in June.

In July, things have gone from bad to worse. The Angels are just 1-8 since the start of the month and they find themselves a season-worst 18 games behind Houston in the division race.

This all comes despite having two of the American League’s last three MVPs.

Shohei Ohtani won the award last season after smashing 46 home runs from the dish and winning 9 of his 11 decisions on the mound. The two-way star is quickly becoming one of baseball’s best, and he seemingly does something that’s never been done on a nightly basis.

Mike Trout is a three-time AL MVP, and one of the game’s best all-around players. But during his 12 productive seasons in LA, the Angels have made the playoffs just once. In fact, they’ve actually posted losing records in seven of those seasons, and each of the last seven.

They seem to be on pace for an eighth straight losing campaign, which has caused fans to become frustrated that the team is wasting the careers of two of the MLB’s best players.

An old tweet has resurfaced as the Angels continue to waste Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani’s careers

With the Angels’ continued struggles, an old tweet has resurfaced referencing Trout and Ohtani. It’s now going viral (again) as it rings true in 2022.

The post encompasses what we’ve seen in Los Angeles this year. While Trout and Ohtani seem to produce night after night, the Angels continue to drop games they should win. Many around social media are having similar reactions.

Many are wondering if this is the last time we’ll see the two stars together.

Time will tell if that proves true, but this year’s Angels team has surely been a disappointment considering the star power on the roster.
