Twitter Is Absolutely Annihilating Zaza Pachulia For Injuring Kawhi Leonard On A (Maybe, Possibly) Dirty Play

There is no simply no way the Spurs have a shot at winning the Western Conference Finals without Kawhi Leonard. But arguably the best two-way player in the NBA not named LeBron has a weakness–his left ankle is frail. The injured ankle kept Leonard out of the Spurs’ clinching Game 6 victory over the Houston Rockets and last night, in the span of five minutes, Leonard tweaked it twice.

The second ankle roll sent Kawhi Leonard out of the game with his team up 23 with 8 minutes to go in the third quarter. The MVP candidate stepped on Zaza Pachulia’s foot while landing after a jump shot. At the time of his exit, Leonard was dominating the game with 26 points, eight rebounds and three assists. The Spurs would blow the lead and surrender game 1 to the Warriors 113-111.

In any event, Kawhi’s status for the games ahead is up in the air, as he is expected to get an MRI today. As you can imagine, Zaza is taking heat for his controversial foul, so much so that he had to turn his social media notifications off because he was getting death threats.

What you bros think: dirty or unfortunate?

Much of Twitter seems to believe that Zaza knew exactly what he was doing, and there was plenty of outrage to be had.

Best case scenario, Kawhi’s ankle heals overnight and he returns for game 2 to deliver the game winning dunk at the buzzer, putting his balls in Zaza’s face. A man can dream.
