The UCONN basketball team capped the 2024 season with a second straight national championship, beating Purdue in the title game 75-60.

As it turns out, a number of Arizona State supporters were able to witness that win in person while Husky fans watched from Connecticut.

UCONN didn’t fill its student ticket allotment for the final contest, so ASU filled in. Decked out in blue and white, those Sun Devils were seen rooting on the champs in another dominant win.

A few even went as far as to create their own custom Husky shirts, with students calling the Final Four trip the “experience of a lifetime.”

ASU student here. Thanks for having us this weekend, it was the experience of a lifetime. UConn gained a fan tonight 💙🤍❤️

Cronkite News detailed the situation further before the game’s opening tip. As it turns out, Purdue was the only Final Four school to fill its student ticket allotment, which turned out great for ASU!

The Boilermakers’ student section is the only one out of the Final Four teams to have all their tickets claimed for the games. The other teams filled their empty student seats by giving away the tickets to Arizona college students, which led to “ASU, ASU cheers” in the UConn line to get in Monday.

As it turns out, there was a reason for Arizona State to cheer on the Huskies in Phoenix. The Sun Devils’ head basketball coach Bobby Hurley is UCONN coach Dan Hurley’s brother!

Connecticut surely appreciated the in-game love.

And despite not being able to make the cross-country trip to Arizona, those Huskies were enjoying every moment from home.

UCONN students celebrated in Storrs instead.

The party looked much like last season’s, when the school noted around $128K in damages to campus. The term, “act like you’ve been there before,” holds no weight in Storrs!

UCONN will enjoy this one just as they did the last after closing out another run of dominance.
