11 viral moments in Week 6 of the College Football season.

Week 6 of the college football season absolutely delivered, producing a number of viral moments at both the FBS and FCS levels. We’ve done our best to round up the best of the weekend.

I try to avoid simply posting game highlights here. You can catch those anywhere. Instead, this is a mix of the on- and off-field stories that won the internet on Saturday.

This is a new weekly segment that we’ll plan on doing throughout the remainder of the year. Be sure to look back at an action-packed Week 5 if you missed it in order to get a feel for what to expect.

11 viral college football moments that won the internet.

Let’s start in the SEC with what was the biggest game of the week. Georgia and Alabama met in Tuscaloosa for a heavyweight showdown. The Bulldogs won to secure a No. 1 national ranking. It didn’t come without fireworks or controversy, though!

Alabama fans, Kalen DeBoer melt down.

Alabama lost in controversial fashion to Georgia, 20-17. A crucial pass interference call was missed on the Tide’s final drive. A self-inflicted wound prevented the offense from getting the ball back.

Kalen DeBoer erupted on his defense for a personal foul that effectively ended the game. He unloaded on referees after the missed PI. Fans followed suit.

The crowd threw objects from the stands after the loss. One fan was seen shouting at and slapping a UGA player on the helmet. All in all, it was a bad night for the Crimson Tide.

Kirby Smart delivers epic speeches.

Smart was fired up both before and after the matchup in Tuscaloosa. His pre- and post-game speeches each made headlines after being leaked on social media.

I didn’t post the video above due to language, but they are must-listens. Instead, you can enjoy Smart celebrating with the fanbase before clicking the speech links. His pregame speech can be found HERE. His postgame is HERE. The message was pretty similar in both; “I want to f— these b—-es up.”

Mission accomplished.

Jeremiah Smith solidifies Heisman status.

This Ohio State wideout is the Heisman favorite. Through six games, he ranks second nationally in touchdown catches and receiving yards. He had another productive day against Maryland over the weekend.

Smith went for 93 yards and two scores in a 45-16 win. His one-handed grab just before halftime, in the rain no less, caught viewers’ attention. It also set up a Buckeyes’ score.

The receiver now has multiple touchdowns in three straight games. He’s averaging 172 yards per contest during that time and is almost even-money to win the award per the sportsbooks.

Referees botch Oregon’s try.

Oregon fell 17-15 to UCLA after being stopped on a late two-point try. The Big Ten admitted after the fact that the play was poorly officiated.

The ball was incorrectly spotted after UCLA penalty. Oregon should’ve taken the snap one yard closer to the goal line. The extra three feet proved costly.

The Ducks were unable to find the endzone and tie the game. They now have two losses on the season, threatening College Football Playoff hopes.

Bill Belichick cracked a smile.

The typically crotchety Belichick was excited after pulling off a road upset over 25th-ranked Pitt. UNC improved to 3-2 with a comeback effort against the Panthers.

The Tar Heels were down 10-0 in the first half. They scored 21 of the game’s last 28 points to win. Their head coach was as giddy as we’ve seen him since arriving to Chapel Hill.

He first broke a sly smile in the postgame interview before closing with his patented, “On to [insert next opponent],” phrase. Belichick loosened up even more in the ensuing locker room celebration. He seems to be enjoying Year 2 in North Carolina.

USC band gets revenge on Penn State.

USC was stuck in a Penn State whiteout at Beaver Stadium on Saturday night. The band was given the worst seat in the house.

The Spirit of Troy marching band was tucked in a faraway corner of the upper deck. The Nittany Lions tried to mute band members. They refused to be quiet.

After picking up a 31-23 win, the band moved to the concourse to celebrate with the team. It forced Penn State fans to listen as they exited the venue. The band got revenge after being banished. There is no taste sweeter!

Parker Livingstone mocks Texas.

Oklahoma stunned Texas in the Red River Rivalry, 27-24. They did so by erasing a 10-point second half deficit.

The Sooners trailed 17-7 at halftime. They outscored the Longhorns 20-7 after the break. That included 17 fourth quarter points.

Arch Manning threw a brutal pick in a tie game on his final drive. Oklahoma responded by kicking a game-winning field goal. After seeing it sail through the uprights, the sideline emptied. OU players beelined for the Texas students’ section.

Parker Livingstone, who played for Texas last year, was one of them. He mocked his former classmates after swapping sides. He’s still never lost the Red River Rivalry.

Gamecocks troll Florida on Steve Spurrier Day.

Steve Spurrier is the winningest coach in Florida and South Carolina program history. His former schools faced off Saturday in Gainesville. The head ball coach was honored before kickoff.

He then watched the Gators get embarrassed by the Gamecocks in The Swamp. South Carolina won 38-19. Fans that made the trip chomped all the way home.

For South Carolina, it was a much-needed win after three straight SEC losses. It was also the program’s first win in Gainesville without Spurrier on the sidelines. For the Gators, it was a second straight letdown.

Kentucky storms the field.

Kentucky took down LSU in dramatic fashion with a second consecutive walk-off win. The Wildcats beat South Carolina last week on a two-point conversion in overtime. They did the same to the Tigers on Saturday in Lexington.

Both games resulted in 35-34 Kentucky wins. Fans stormed the field after their latest triumph, with many flipping off Lane Kiffin as he exited to the locker room.

The program was fined $500K for breaking SEC rules. Administration will gladly trade the punishment for a massive upset.

Ty Pennington engineers FCS upset.

Not to be confused with the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition host of the same name, Northern Arizona QB Ty Pennington accounted for six touchdowns in a 49-44 upset of second-ranked Montana.

The passer ran for four scores. He also threw one and caught one in an all-around stellar performance.

Pennington was unstoppable, for lack of a better word. He racked up 322 passing yards while also leading the team in rushing. In doing so, he became a household name.

Florida A&M completes epic comeback.

The one-win Rattlers trailed SWAC rival Alabama State 28-14 in the fourth quarter. They used back-to-back 80+ yard touchdown passes to grab a 29-28 lead.

With 11 minutes left to play, Armond Parker found Armand Burris for an 88-yard catch and run to cut the deficit in half. Five minutes later, the duo connected again for an 89-yard score. A two-point conversion gave the Rattlers the lead, but the dramatics didn’t end there.

Florida A&M blocked a game-winning field goal attempt as time expired to secure the weekend’s most improbable win.
