Reports of a toxic culture in Boulder have surfaced as the Colorado Buffaloes eye the start of the 2024 season. Assistant coach Warren Sapp didn’t do much to help the situation which his choice of wording when describing his defensive unit.
Earlier this offseason, Athlon Sports published an article condemning the environment Deion Sanders had created. That piece went as far as to call the Colorado locker room a “real life version of Grand Theft Auto.”
Claims of a rampant gun culture, hazing, and fights were brought about.
Coach Prime has denied those allegations while threatening legal retaliation in the process. Players, both current and former, have echoed that sentiment.
Whether or not you believe the accusations to be true, most would agree it would be wise not to use a gun reference when describing the team given the circumstances.
Warren Sapp did just that on Tuesday.

“I wouldn’t single out one guy because we’re a pack,” he said of his defensive line. “We got bullets. You get shot with a .38 or a 9mm, you pick.”
Sapp attempted to highlight the talent on his front four, but using any other comparison likely would’ve been beneficial.
The former NFL defender joined Deion Sanders’ staff in April of this year. He brings with him a Super Bowl pedigree following a 13-year professional playing career.
He’s enjoyed his time thus far in Boulder, saying that coaching college athletes has proven rewarding while also helping him kick an MSNBC addiction.
