The 2022 NFL Draft class was loaded at wide receiver.

That class had 6 players drafted at the position in the first 18 picks of the draft.

A few of those players have already started putting up big numbers for the teams that selected them.

Drake London had 866 yards in a bad Falcons offense.

Chris Olave had 1042 yards in just 15 games.

Garrett Wilson locked up the Offensive Rookie of the Year award with 1103 receiving yards on a Jets squad where the quarterback play was horrendous.

Now one of the other 3 is expecting himself to join that list as another standout receiver from the Class of 2022.

During an appearance on yesterday’s episode of the 2nd Wind Podcast, Jahan Dotson revealed that he believes 2023 will be his breakout year.

“This year I feel like I gotta come crazy,” Dotson said. “It’s my breakout year , it’s what I’ve working hard for. I gotta make ‘em feel me.”

The year 2 breakout is a pretty common occurrence for wide receivers. We saw it from DeVonta Smith, Jaylen Waddle, and Amon-Ra St Brown last season.

Jahan Dotson is a prime candidate to be one of this year’s breakout receivers.

Despite ending up in a less than ideal situation with a Washington Commanders team that featured Carson Wentz and Taylor Heinicke at quarterback and already had Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel commanding targets, Dotson was able to show flashes of his talent as a rookie.

He was able to rack up 290 yards over the last 4 weeks of the 2022 season, including 72 in his one game with Sam Howell at QB.

Just how successful Jahan Dotson will be in his 2nd year may depend on whether Sam Howell proves to be a dependable NFL QB, but the way he ended the 2022 season bodes well for him and the Washington Commanders.
