A feisty exchange between Zach Johnson and a group of fans was caught on camera at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. It is unclear as to when it was filmed, but the video went viral on Sunday morning.

According to the person who sent the video to Old Row Golf, Johnson was the catalyst. He allegedly brought the heat upon himself and melted down after they got the last laugh.

As the story goes, Johnson was not kind to fans prior to his tee shot. That did not go over well with the rowdy bunch, so they were especially brutal after he shanked his ball wide right.

A fan supposedly chirped, “guess being an a—— doesn’t help!”

That sent Johnson into a tirade. He walked over to the fans and yelled that he was “sick of it” and requested that they “shut up.”

One of the fans in the group for which Johnson accosted can be heard saying “well then grow up, number one” as the former Masters winner stormed off and walked down the green. Even a nearby police officer had a smirk on her face when she stepped in to deescalate the situation, almost as if the fans were the ones who made all of the right points.

If everything went exactly how the videographer said, Johnson looks terrible. He allegedly initiated the conversation with a sour attitude and couldn’t handle the repercussions.

Zach Johnson lost his cool at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

This comes as the 47-year-old continues to face criticism for his decisions at the Ryder Cup, at which the United States got smacked. The crowd in Phoenix was so rowdy on Saturday that the tournament had to shut down alcohol sales around 1:30 p.m. because things got out of hand.

It is safe to assume that the well-lubricated bunch was especially brutal toward Zach Johnson. His supposed bad attitude likely stemmed from the constant bombardment— and being tied for 50th. Whatever it was that went down in the video was him finally snapping.

Yikes. If you can’t handle the heat, get out of the kitchen!

Rather, if you can’t handle the heat, don’t play at the Waste Management Phoenix Open…
