The door is obviously open for Sean McVay to return as head coach of the Rams next season after he led Los Angeles to a Super Bowl victory. That doesn’t exactly mean he wants to return to his post, however.

It would certainly be out of the norm for a 36-year-old head coach fresh off of his first Super Bowl win to call it quits, but that does seem to be a serious option for McVay.

Ahead of the Super Bowl, McVay explained that he is looking forward to getting married this summer and wants to have children.

“I know I love football and I’m so invested in this thing and I’m in the moment right now. But at some point, too, if you said what do you want to be able to do? I want to be able to have a family and I want to be able to spend time with them,” McVay told ESPN.

Will Sean McVay Coach The Rams In 2022?

Those comments are what sparked the idea that maybe McVay could actually hang it up after the Super Bowl. On Monday, the day after the Rams’ win over the Bengals, McVay gave an honest answer when asked if he’ll return as head coach next season.

“We’ll see, I’m just enjoying this moment right now. I’m really happy to be a part of this. Happy for that,” McVay told Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times.

McVay also admitted that the Rams winning the Super Bowl would make it easier to retire from coaching as opposed to if they had lost the game.
