One MLB bettor found himself in an awkward position on Opening Day while attending the Yankees-Giants game. The New York fan was forced to celebrate a losing wager.

He filmed his reaction as the hilarious scene unfolded, leading to a viral moment on social media.

The Yankees opened up the 2023 season with an interleague matchup against San Franciso on Thursday. In a matchup of powerful starting pitchers, this baseball bettor decided it was a good time to place a “No Runs in the First Inning” wager.

Aces Gerrit Cole and Logan Webb squared off on the mound, with runs expected to be limited for both teams. Cole did his job in the top half of the frame, striking out the side.

It was a trend that would continue in the pitcher’s big day as he set a Yankees franchise record for strikeouts on Opening Day.

Unfortunately for the bettor, his own team would ruin his first inning bet.

In the bottom half of the frame, Yankees slugger Aaron Judge went yard, smacking his first dinger of the year. The home run gave the home team an early 1-0 lead while effectively ending this NRFI wager.

The fan decided to film the Judge at-bat from his seat in the outfield bleacher, and his reaction was priceless.

The conflicted fan isn’t sure whether to celebrate the homer or be sad about losing his first bet of the baseball season. Take a look at the now viral moment.

The bettor may have gotten off to a bad start as far as his sportsbook account goes, but at least he can take solace in a Yankees win on Opening Day. New York took down the Giants 5-0 in the season debut.
