The New York Yankees made headlines on Thursday with a massive addition to the starting rotation. The club signed Carlos Rodon to a six-year deal, bolstering the pitching staff ahead of the 2023 season.

Rodon brings a strong left-handed arm with him to New York, as well as a plethora of experience.

The eight-year veteran is coming off back-to-back All-Star seasons, one with the White Sox and the other with the Giants. Last year was his best yet as he threw a career-high 178 innings, recording 14 wins and a 2.88 ERA. He also led the National League in strikeouts per nine innings.

Now, he’ll bring that production to the Bronx where the Yankees are still in search of their first World Series crown since 2009. Despite having a loaded (and expensive) roster that boasts a Cy Young finalist and the reigning AL MVP, the Yankees have failed to reach the pinnacle in more than a decade.

Carlos Rodon represents the latest effort to land that elusive championship, and he’s already got fans believing it’s possible. After having the MLB’s top offense in 2022, those supporters now think they’ve got the top pitching rotation, too.

Take a look at the immediate reaction online.

One person wrote, “Carlos Rodón is an exciting addition to an already impressive Yankees rotation. They are now a better team than the one they ended the season with.” A World Series is certainly there for the taking in 2023.

This person commented, “Best rotation the Yankees have had in the last decade.”

Time will tell if New York can live up to expectations. Fans are definitely excited to welcome Carlos Rodon to the Big Apple.
