Zach Wilson Ripped By New York Radio Host For Going ‘Apple Picking’ During Bye Week

Every New York Jets fans’ worst fear came true when Aaron Rodgers went down after throwing just one pass in the first week of the NFL season.

That meant, for the third year in a row, they would be forced to watch Zach Wilson as the team’s starting quarterback.

However, Wilson, the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft, hasn’t been completely inept since taking over the reigns from the future Hall of Famer.

Yes, his QB rating after six games of 73.4 is still abysmal (30th in the NFL), as is his 4 to 5 touchdown to interception ratio.

But he’s completing a career-high 60.4 percent of his passes (29th in the NFL) and the Jets are 3-3 with wins over the Eagles and Bills.

So there’s has been a sliver of optimism.

Unfortunately, at least for Zach Wilson, some football fans still aren’t happy with him.

During the Jets’ bye week, Zach Wilson and his girlfriend Nicolette Dellanno traveled to Utah to spend some time with family.

This did not sit well with Shaun Morash of the Evan and Tiki show on WFAN in New York.

“Zach Wilson is about to play the most important football games of his career and rather than stay back and grind in NJ he took his gf back home to Utah to go apple picking,” Morash wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Disgrace.”

He also shared a video from the show where he explains more specifically why he was unhappy with Zach Wilson traveling to Utah.

“Zach Wilson, in what is about to be the biggest stretch of his career decided it was a good time to take his girlfriend to Utah to apple and pumpkin pick and go to haunted houses,” he said.

“To meet the family, man,” Tiki Barber jumped in.

“He’s a professional athlete,” Morash shot back. “The family can fly to New York and New Jersey.

“I’m sorry. The Jets stink after byes. Zach Wilson’s season derailed after a bye.

“I believe 52 guys could have gone and visited families,” Morash continued. “The quarterback – the leader – needs to be at that or around that facility all week last week.

“And Zach Wilson has not done enough to get his a– on a plane with his girlfriend to go to Utah.”

He then compared Wilson going to Utah with his girlfriend to the infamous trip to Cabo Tony Romo made with Jessica Simpson during the bye week of the 2007 playoffs.

“I actually agree with you. Sometimes in life you should do the adult thing, this isn’t high school or college,” one fan wrote in support of Morash’s hot take.

He, however, was in the minority.

“It’s actually comedy at this point that this kid can’t do anything without being harassed by someone,” read another comment. “Spending time w his family is wrong to do during the bye week apparently lol.”

“Y’all be trying too hard man…everybody knows bye weeks are for the guys to get away,” another fan replied. “The teams encourage the guys to leave the facility. Him going back to his home town as opposed to a vacation is about as tame of a bye week as you can get.”
