March 14, 2018 marked Steph Curry’s 30th birthday. 3.14 also happens to be Pi Day, the mathematical anomaly whose decimal representation never ends and never settles into a permanent repeating pattern. But you already knew that.
To celebrate the two occasions, Under Armour launched a special “Pi Day” Curry 5 in a new colorway. The shoe, which sold for $130, features a circle knit construction (an ode to “squaring the circle”), the Pi symbol featured on the knit, and “3.14.18” printed on the lace aglets.
The shoe was created to represent “what it means to achieve the impossible, to break the mathematical norm and expectations of what a basketball player can be,” per the news release.
Under Armour only released 314 pairs of the shoe online, but they sold out in minutes. They will reportedly restock on April 14.

With the insane technology and innovation brought to the shoe industry, it’s a damn shame there hasn’t been a lot done to protect the ankle. Curry has had one billion ankle injuries and by the looks of these kicks, he’s asking for one billion more.
