Bro Scores An Albatross (Double Eagle) During A Disc Golf Tournament With The Greatest Shot In History

This is arguably the greatest shot in competitive disc golf history. An 850-foot albatross, or double eagle, scoring a 2 on a Par-6 during the 2016 Beaver State Fling. The Beaver State Fling is an annual stop on the PDGA tour, or the ‘Professional Disc Golf Association’ for those of you like myself who were unaware that there are professional frolfers out there.

The man you see throwing out the albatross in this video is Philo Brathwaite, and he went on to finish second in this year’s Beaver State Fling tournament with a score of -30 under par (he only made 5 bogies in 4 rounds), and that netted him a paycheck of $2,750. For reference, $3,750 went to the winner, Richard Wysocki, who finished -33. The winner of this event, Richard Wysocki, is actually the #2 ranked frolfer in the world, and it’s blowing my mind because I also had no idea there were were international pro disc golf rankings.

It’s pretty awesome to see that the sport has progressed this far though, back in college we used to just pick up a 12-pack of Natty Ice for each of us and go get hammered while occasionally throwing the disc. It seems as if they have a very legitimate sport on their hands now and that’s cool to see. Let’s watch that albatross once more in GIF:

Here are the world rankings by the way, and if you’re wondering where Philo Brathwaite is ranking worldwide he’s ’38th with a rating #1017′ (a previous version of this article had him listed as ranked #1021 but that’s just because I can’t read the world rankings properly, I’m sorry, today’s my first day being aware of the disc golf world rankings), but the world rankings haven’t reflected this latest event and his second win of the season is sure to jettison him up in the standings some.
