Philadelphia Eagles Chief Security Officer Dom DiSandro has turned into a mini-celebrity over the last few years as the Eagles have emerged as one of the very best teams in the NFL after playing in two Super Bowls against the Kansas City Chiefs in the last two years and winning one in blowout fashion over the Chiefs. Though Disandro has gotten in some trouble for some sideline antics in the past, it is very clear that he is a valued member of the franchise in many ways.

Recently, Eagles executive Howie Roseman gave us just another example of how the Eagles use Dom DiSandro. He claims they use the big man to help find “red-flags” in players and draft prospects.

DiSandro, who received a scholarship to Penn State in the late 90’s to play football but was kicked off the team before appearing in a game, has been working for the Eagles since 1999. He’s been in his current role since 2011, but he really started to gain some notoriety in the last few years. That intensified after a scuffle with San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk on the sideline in a 2023 game. He was banned from the sideline for the rest of the season, but his fame only grew bigger. Plus, Eagles players outwardly love the guy, and head coach Nick Sirianni even defended him after the incident.

They’re using him in a ton of ways, including to check out the character of players. Here’s Pro Football Talk with more.

Roseman credited DiSandro, whose full job title is “senior advisor to the general manager/chief security officer/gameday coaching operations,” for being integral to the Eagles’ evaluation of potential draft picks. Roseman said the Eagles want to know that every player they draft has the kind of character that will fit the team’s culture, and Roseman said no one is better at determining that than DiSandro.

“We do have objective criteria that we look at to take players off our board,” Roseman said. “We start with these basic principles of, ‘We will not draft because of this.’ When we get past those guys, then we obviously have a process we go through. That starts with Dom. I don’t think there’s any doubt that he’s the best in the National Football League, and in my opinion all of sports, at what he does. His ability to not only gather information but have a feel for people. And then we just have to make judgments. In those situations, those are a little more subjective, and that’s based on all the information we get.”

The Eagles have consistently been a team that drafts really well, so Dom is doing something right.

The 2025 NFL Draft begins Thursday night in Green Bay.
