As Burmese pythons continue to proliferate throughout South Florida and The Florida Everglades, some snake hunters have fought tirelessly to keep the population numbers in check. Of those, Mike Kimmel aka the ‘Python Cowboy’ has emerged as the best-known figure in the war against invasive pythons.

The Python Cowboy was a guest on the Joe Rogan Experience recently where he told Joe the story of being attacked by a 17-foot Burmese python in the Everglades.

Joe Rogan has been known to be squeamish when it comes to snakes. They’re certainly no this favorite. So it is interesting that he keeps inviting guests on his show who want to talk about snakes.

On Instagram, Kimmel shared an additional clip that shows the actual moment of the python attack.

What has really led to the Python Cowboy thriving as a snake hunter is his unique method of going after the snakes.

Kimmel works hand in hand with his dogs Moose and Otto to root out the invasive Burmese pythons and they have been working tirelessly throughout nesting season in Florida.

These Burmese pythons are perfectly adapted to the climate of The Florida Everglades and they are thriving… until Moose and Otto and the Python Cowboy show up.

On a recent hunt, Mike Kimmel and Otto captured a 16-foot Burmese python that had 60 eggs in its belly. The eggs are the size of grapefruits. I’d post the picture here but it is pretty bloody so if you want to see it you will have to click here to visit his Instagram page. In the meantime, here are some recent pythons caught by him and his dogs:
