The Xtreme Eating Awards are one of my favorite annual releases. Each year the Xtreme Eating Awards name ‘the worst’ chain restaurant meals in terms of calories and nutritional value. The 2019 Xtreme Eating Awards were just released and MAH GAWD I’ve got some work to do.

I’m not one of those people who will avoid a meal simply because it’s packing more calories than I can burn in a day. I am the type of person who will eat that meal, feel like trash, and then workout until I pass out or throw up the next day to make up for my mistake.

The criteria for the 2019 Xtreme Eating Awards finalists are pretty straight forward. All of the dishes have between 1,500 to 2,300 calories. Also, all of the dishes have ‘at least a day’s worth of sugar, salt, or saturated fat’ which hurts just to read.

In terms of the ‘usual suspects’ you can expect to see on the annual Xtreme Eating Awards list it’s really The Cheesecake Factory. They never fail to have at least one dish on this list even if that dish has been modified in some way to be more caloric for the Xtreme Eating Awards Finals.

Here’s how the 2019 Xtreme Eating Awards finals shake out from cspinet

Sonic’s Oreo Peanut Butter Master Shake checks in at 1,720 calories for a ‘large’. It packs 48 grams of saturated fat and an estimated 62 grams of added sugar. This is the equivalent of eating 15 oreos and a half cup of lard. The milkshake itself sounds pretty great though, here’s what’s included: “real ice cream mixed with rich peanut butter and Oreos into a thick and creamy shake, finished with whipped topping and a cherry.”

The Country Boy Breakfast from Cracker Barrel packs a belly-busting 1,530 calories, 25 grams saturated fat, and 4,730mg of Sodium. This single breakfast is about as much as I eat in a day: “three farm fresh eggs, fried apples, hashbrown casserole, and grits…plus sirloin steak, two pork chops or country ham.” According to the Xtreme Eating Awards, this is the equivalent of eating ‘3 McDonald’s Egg McMuffins plus 4 hash browns.’

Maggiano’s Today & Tomorrow Pastas sounds borderline insane. It totals 1,760 calories and packs 41 grams of saturated fat plus 2,990mg Sodium. This is the equivalent of eating three personal pan cheese pizzas from Pizza Hut according to the Xtreme Eating Awards: ““Now you can choose any specialty pasta, chef featured pasta or classic pasta and take a free classic pasta home as a meal for tomorrow,” says Maggiano’s about its Today & Tomorrow Pastas. Yay! Let’s say you pick the Braised Beef al Forno to start. Who knew that orecchiette pasta, beef, peppers, spinach, and “truffle peppercorn sauce” could hit 1,760 calories? Tomorrow, for your freebie, you could dig into, say, the 1,400-calorie Taylor Street Baked Ziti.

I’m passing on that. That would absolutely destroy my stomach.

The Injectable Donut Holes from Top Golf are disturbing because I actually ate these a few weeks ago over the 4th of July holiday. Thankfully, I shared them with a group of six people including two pregnant women who starving at the time. Top Golf’s food sounds, erm, terrifying these days…

Topgolf supplies plastic syringes so you can inject chocolate, raspberry jelly, and/or Bavarian cream goo into each donut hole. Of course, you may end up sharing your 1,970-calorie order of 24 holes with friends…along with Topgolf’s 1,250-calorie tater tots, 1,450-calorie chips & queso, or 1,750-calorie cheese fries.

Jimmy’s 16-inch Giant Gargantuan packs 2,190 calories which is more than the daily recommended amount for an adult male. It boasts 29 grams saturated fat and 7,720mg Sodium. What goes into to this sandwich? Pretty much everything: “salami, capicola, turkey, roast beef, ham, provolone cheese, onion, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and oil & vinegar”. Hard pass on that one.

Cinnamon Roll Pancakes from The Cheesecake Factory clock in at 2,040 calories FOR BREAKFAST. They boast 51g of saturated fat, 2,950mg Sodium, and an estimated 137 grams of added sugar. According to the Xtreme Eating Awards website, this is the equivalent of eating 11 Krispy Kreme Original Glazed Donuts by yourself.

The Boss Burger from Chili’s is a BEAST. All in, it totals 2,020 calories with 3,900mg Sodium for a single meal. What’s on this burger? Everything, pretty much everything. The menu says “Smoked brisket, rib meat, jalapeño-cheddar smoked sausage, bacon, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, house BBQ & house-made ranch. We. Dare. You.” Hard pass on that one from me.

The Chicken & Waffle Sliders from Dave & Busters clock in at 2,340 calories, 38g saturated fat, 3,240mg Sodium, and an estimated 98g of added sugar. Of all the dishes on the 2019 Xtreme Eating Awards list I think I’m most likely to order this one that includes ‘fried chicken, bacon, mini Belgian waffles, maple syrup, and tater tots’.

Put into terms that are easy to understand, the Xtreme Eating Awards website says this dish is the eating equivalent of ‘8 Eggo waffles plus 8 Jimmy Dean pork sausage patties doused in ½ cup of maple syrup.’

For in-depth information on the finalists and other dishes, be sure to visit cspinet’s Xtreme Eating Awards website. That concludes the nine finalists of the 2019 Xtreme Eating Awards. I’ve extensively covered this annual roundup in the past so if youw ant to see dishes from previous years then keep on scrolling!
