57-year-old mom Kathy Jacobs became the oldest woman to ever model for the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 2020 after being one of six finalists in the magazine’s annual Swim Search casting call.
In 2021, she broke that record and did herself one better by appearing in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
“I’m closer to 60 than I am to 50 at this point,” Jacobs recently told the New York Post. “So to be in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit magazine representing ladies my age is just the best feeling in the world.”
In addition to appearing in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 2021, Jacobs also got to walk the runway again during during Miami Swim Week.
“When I first went out [on the runway] the main thing on my mind was to show gratitude,” said Jacobs.
Jacobs, who has a 24-year-old daughter that is similar in age to many of the other SI Swimsuit models, decided to walk the runway like she owned it.
“I was like ‘screw it,’” Jacobs said. “I’m going to be my biggest, baddest and boldest self.”
“I’m taking full advantage of this moment,” added Jacobs. “Because It’s taken me so long to get here.”
Jacobs says that thanks to her SI Swimsuit exposure she is now creating her own skin-care line for women over 50.
“Put ladies over 50, 60 and 70 in your ads and on the runway,” said Jacobs. “We should be honored by major brands because we’re the demographic with the most disposable income. Show these ladies some love.”
