Academy Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie, who topped the list of Hollywood’s highest-paid multiple times during her career, is fed up with Hollywood.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Jolie lamented the current state of the entertainment business and the way being an actor/celebrity has become so public compared to when she first started in the 1990s.

“I wouldn’t be an actress today. When I was starting out, it wasn’t as much of an expectation to be as public, to share so much,” Jolie said during a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal.

The 48-year-old Jolie, who was born and raised in Los Angeles, also said that the town is not a “healthy place” and that she plans on moving when she can.

“I will move [out of Los Angeles] when I can,” Jolie said. “I grew up in quite a shallow place. Of all the places in the world, Hollywood is not a healthy place. So you seek authenticity.”

Jolie most recently appeared as Thena in the 2021 Marvel Cinematic Universe film Eternals. Currently, she’s filming Maria, a biopic about opera singer Maria Callas that was written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight and is being directed by Spencer filmmaker Pablo Larraín.

Additionally, she’s also set to reprise her voice role as Master Tigress in Kung-Fu Panda 4, which will hit theaters next year and is rumored to be starring in a third Maleficent film.

Jolie won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the 1999 film Girl, Interrupted. She’d then go on to star in films such as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and its sequel, Gone in 60 Seconds, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Kung Fu Panda, Wanted, Salt, Maleficient, and more.

Jolie has also had a high-profile personal life during her career due to her relationships with actors Johnny Lee Miller, Billy Bob Thorton, and Brad Pitt.
