Talk about a bad dream. An Arizona driver recently fell asleep at the wheel, crashed through a wall, and completely submerged their car in a swimming pool.
The incident occurred at 3:03 a.m. at the Glen Canyon Villas in Page, Arizona. According to the Page Police Department, when police officers arrived on the scene, they saw a car floating in a swimming pool and significant damage to a wall. Luckily, the driver, a teen, managed to get out of the car and said they were not hurt.
The young driver claimed that while traveling home from work, they dozed off behind the wheel. The driver said that after abruptly waking up, they tried to apply the brake pedal but accidentally pressed the accelerator, causing the car to accelerate and crash into the wall. The car then crashed through the wall and entered the swimming pool.
Police reported that drowsiness alone appeared to have caused the accident. However, the case is still under investigation.

Vehicles crash into swimming pools way more often than one might think
Earlier this month, rescuers had to save a Connecticut man after he drove his Tesla into the middle of a public pool. In that incident, employees at the Steve Benko Pool at Waveny Park in New Canaan, Connecticut, were preparing to open when a Tesla barreled through a fence before plunging into the water. The driver said he was attempting to park before the car plowed into the pool.
Last August, surveillance cameras recorded a black hatchback losing control, smashing through bushes and a wall before plunging into a swimming pool at the Humen Fumin Swimming Centre in Guangdong, China.
In March of 2025, home surveillance video captured a car careening through a homeowner’s fence and crashing into a backyard swimming pool on New York’s Long Island. The year before, another speeding car slammed through a fence at a home across the street. Neither time did the driver stick around for the cleanup.
Two years ago, a silver sedan made a right turn onto G Street in Sioux City, Iowa, jumped the curb, drove through a neighboring yard, broke through their fence and finally stopped in the pool in the backyard. It was the second time a car ended up in the same family’s pool.
