Scientists have spent decades warning the world about the ramifications of climate change, which has the potential to submerge a number of major cities in water and possibly lead to the end of human civilization as we know it within the next 30 years.

Of course, there have been plenty of skeptics who’ve attempted to downplay the evidence that’s led to those warnings being issued, but the rise of global temperatures has become increasingly hard to ignore thanks to what’s transpired over the course of the current summer.

Earlier this month, our planet kicked off a fairly dubious streak that saw global temperatures either tie or break the mark for the hottest day in recorded history on four consecutive occasions, and a number of cities around the United States are currently grappling with some virtually unprecedented heat waves that have made life incredibly miserable for the people that have had to endure them.

That includes Phoenix, Arizona, which King of the Hill once described as a “monument to man’s arrogance” thanks to the questionable decision to erect the city in the middle of a desert that was borderline inhabitable well before climate change came along to exacerbate the issue.

Phoenix has experienced “extreme heat” (defined at 110°F or higher) every single day since the start of July, which has resulted in a spike in hospital admissions and made life especially miserable for residents who are doing everything in their power to stay cool.

If you’re trying to get a read on just how hot it is in Phoenix, I can’t think of many things that illustrate the fairly grim reality people there are currently grappling with than a video that was posted by a woman who will probably have to make a trip to a mechanic after her tail light seemingly melted due to the scorching temps.

Stay safe out there.
