Aubrey Plaza’s Co-Star On ‘The White Lotus’ Stalked Her Family To Get Close To Her

Season 2 of HBO’s The White Lotus has a stacked cast of Hollywood veterans like Michael Imperioli, F. Murray Abraham, Jennifer Coolidge, and Aubrey Plaza. But The White Lotus season 2 has also led to some rising stars becoming considerably more famous overnight. Those cast members include Adam DiMarco, Simona Tabasco, Will Sharpe, and Haley Lu Richardson.

Haley Lu Richardson plays ‘Portia’ who is Tanya’s (Jennifer Coolidge) assistant. She’s in Italy working for a boss she doesn’t seem to care about, worried that she doesn’t have direction in life, and finds herself in an increasingly uncomfortable relationship with ‘Jack’ played by Leo Woodall.

Haley Lu Richardson was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live where she jokingly revealed the killer is a ‘Sicilian fisherman’. She made sure to clarify it was a joke and that’s not who the killer really is. Haley pointed out how disturbing this season of The White Lotus is because every character seems capable of murder. But then she revealed a darker side of her past… stalking Aubrey Plaza.

She’s not talking about scrolling through Aubrey Plaza’s Instagram history and IMDB page. She reveals that she straight-up got close to Aubrey Plaza‘s family in order to get invited to her private birthday party and meet her. Then when she got the role on The White Lotus Aubrey sent Haley Lu Richardson the most menacing text message.

Haley Lu Richardson said she “didn’t really know Aubrey Plaza.” Richardson added that she “knew of her” from “everything that she’s ever been in” and said that Aubrey “has a lot of crazed fans” but describes herself as “one of the top 3” most-crazed fans.

And it’s at this point she reveals the stalking… Haley Lu Richardson says “I legitimately stalked her. Like, I didn’t just stalk her on social media. I showed up to places I was not invited knowing she was there. I got close to her cousins and her friends so that I would be invited into her life.”

Notice that she says ‘cousins’ and ‘friends’ in the plural tense there. Haley Lu Richardson was really doing some work on the stalker front in order to get close to Aubrey Plaza. It’s at this point that Jimmy Kimmel seems genuniely surprised about the depths of stalking.

Haley goes on to say “and it worked.” Adding that stalking Aubrey Plaza’s cousins led to getting invited to Aubrey’s birthday party where she wasn’t otherwise invited. Aubrey saw Haley from across the bar at this party, locked eyes, and mouthed the words ‘you’ and walked away.

After the story, Haley Lu Richardson reveals that when she got the job on The White Lotus she received a text message from an unknown number. The anonymous texter sent the emoji of a knife and dripping blood. Some how some way Haley Lu Richardson knew that it was Aubrey Plaza sending her these texts and it actually was.

This was all before Aubrey Plaza terrorized another co-star in Sicily with ‘Blair Witch’-style pranks. Just a totally normal working relationship they have on The White Lotus…
