President Biden Signs Bill Banning TikTok, But Will Keep Using It To Campaign?

President Joe Biden signed a bill to ban TikTok in America on Wednesday, but his re-election campaign says it will continue to use the social media app, confusing just about everyone.

The confusion stems from the claims that TikTok is being banned because it supposedly poses a national security risk to Americans.

So if it poses a national security risk to Americans, why would the President of the United States be using the app with his target audience being Americans?

“A fragmented media environment requires us to show up and meet voters where they are — and that includes online,” a Biden campaign official told NBC News. “Tik Tok is one of many places we’re making sure our content is being seen by voters.”

But… it poses a national security risk to Americans.

The Biden re-election TikTok account, @bidenhq, has more than 306,000 followers and has posted almost 120 videos. That’s a pretty active TikTok account for something that is, again, a national security risk to Americans.

The bill Joe Biden signed now gives ByteDance, the company that owns TikTok, nine months to sell the app or face a ban in the United States.

In other words, TikTok is good to go until January, or when the next American President is officially elected.

It will either be a 78-year-old Donald Trump, who according to an ad that ran on Fox News has 88 pending felony charges against him, or an 82-year-old Joe Biden, who will then have to deal with the TikTok ban if it hasn’t been divested by then.

In the meantime, TikTok said in a statement on Wednesday that it plans to fight the ban.

“This unconstitutional law is a TikTok ban, and we will challenge it in court,” TikTok wrote on X (Twitter). “We believe the facts and the law are clearly on our side, and we will ultimately prevail.

“The fact is, we have invested billions of dollars to keep U.S. data safe and our platform free from outside influence and manipulation.

“This ban would devastate seven million businesses and silence 170 million Americans.

“As we continue to challenge this unconstitutional ban, we will continue investing and innovating to ensure TikTok remains a space where Americans of all walks of life can safely come to share their experiences, find joy, and be inspired.”

TikTok CEO Shou Chew also released a video statement on X.

Wow. He did way better reading his speech than Joe Biden did.
