Corn Nuts Asked Its Twitter Followers ‘Where’s The Craziest Place You’ve Nutted’ And, Wait… They Did What?
Brands will do just about anything these days to get clout on social media. Many of them even subscribe to that old Trumpian marketing philosophy of any publicity is good publicity (even if it’s bad).
Other companies have struggled, like when IHOP tried “changing their name.”
And then there’s Corn Nuts.
I don’t even know what category to put the latest Twitter effort by Corn Nuts under. Here, take a look.
“Where’s the craziest place you’ve nutted, I mean ate corn nuts,” they asked.
I mean… is that a good tweet by a brand? Or should someone be getting fired today?
I guess, based on the 103,000+ Likes and 31,500+ retweets, that these days it qualifies as a good tweet.
That being said, whoever published this tweet in behalf of Corn Nuts had better have had the company’s wholehearted approval to do so, otherwise they were really rolling the dice with that question.
Naturally, since the tweet has gone viral, there have been some very impressive responses. And by impressive, I of course mean juvenile and comical.https://twitter.com/jetpack/status/1178865493559693317

Then there was this odd interaction between Corn Nuts, Steak-Umm and a very unhappy Twitterer.

A brand’s social media hire way overreaching, they then try to drag another brand in, and then the original brand packing on an increasingly uncomfortable and kinda rape-y tweet.— Kyle “Yes, I didn’t pick it but here we are.” (@A_Kyle_Andrews) October 1, 2019
Just stop all pretending you’re @Wendys team, you dummies that tweeted about “nutting” like 🤷🏻♂️
Outrage… it’s what’s for breakfast.
