Animal Control Removes A Wily Coyote That Broke Into A Middle School Bathroom And Got Stuck (Video)

Growing up in Florida, I never encountered too many coyotes. I’ve seen a few around my neighborhood and when camping but I can count the number of them on one hand. Alligators, on the other hand, are everywhere and I once found one in the men’s bathroom at my high school.

A similar incident took place in Riverside, California at Jurupa Valley’s Mission Middle School. A wily coyote, not to be confused with Wile E. Coyote, broke into a middle school bathroom and hunkered down behind a toilet.

Animal control was called in to remove the spooked animal that clearly wanted to get out but wasn’t sure how to do that. And Riverside County Animal Services officer Will Luna captured the bizarre encounter on video.

This was the moment right before the animal was lassoed and released unharmed into the wild:

I was reading up on this encounter over on Field & Stream and learned something new about coyotes. The western subspecies of the animal typically weigh between 20 to 25 pounds fully grown. While the Eastern subspecies actually weighs double and up to 50 pounds when fully grown.

I had no idea that Eastern coyotes were THAT much larger than their Western brethren.
