Jason McGowan, the CEO and co-founder of Crumbl Cookies, recently finished his 26,000-square-foot home in Utah at the total cost of approximately $50 million (or greater). The massive family residence features 10 bedrooms, a private bowling alley, an amphitheater, a soccer field and an indoor LED glass sports court.

Studio McGee led the interior design, while the architectural design was handled by Broadbent & Associates.

McGowan has the ability to draw plays on the court in real-time through an unattached tablet. I don’t know how or why every college basketball (and NBA) program in the United States does not have this technology. Especially BYU.

McGowan founded Crumbl wit his cousin-in-law Sawyer Hemsley in 2017. He previously worked as a technology executive and brought a startup approach to the bakery business, utilizing data-driven A/B testing, internal logistic apps and viral marketing. It definitely helped that Crumbl is based out of Utah, a state that is prime for sugary confections. The company is currently valued at more than $2 billion after less than a decade in operation.

Needless to say, Jason McGowan makes a lot of money. His net worth is estimated between $500 million and $1 billion and he almost singlehandedly used his wealth to prevent Penn State from hiring head football coach Kalani Sitake away from BYU.

His house cost at least $50 million to build, which took approximately 19 months.

The 26,573-square-foot luxury estate is located in Provo, Utah — right at the base of Y Mountain. Inside are 10 bedrooms, 10 full bathrooms and four half bathrooms. Most of them are necessary because McGowan has seven kids. Other features read more like a small private resort than a house.

  • LED glass basketball court
  • Two-lane bowling alley
  • Golf simulator
  • Movie theater
  • Resort-style pool with hidden slide
  • Outdoor cabana with a full kitchen
  • 7-on-7 soccer field
  • Outdoor amphitheater with a screen and tiered seating
  • A butler’s pantry with nine bells — each bell assigned to one of the children
  • A living room tapestry that lifts to reveal a hidden television at the push of a button
  • Basement game room with air hockey, pool table, etc.
  • Hobbit-themed tree trunk playhouse

Studio McGee handled all of the interior design. The firm is world renowned.

Broadbent Architectural Studio handled all of the exterior design. McEwan Custom Homes handled the construction.

Here is an inside look at the entire property, both inside and out:

Pretty insane, right? All from cookies in a pink box.

The LED sport court is a must-have for college basketball programs.

McGowan’s entire home is incredible. However, the LED glass court is what caught my attention. It is the same technology we saw at the NBA All-Star Weekend and the Big 12 tournament.

The players ultimately complained about the playing surface because of an injury, which led the Big 12 to switch back to a hardwood floor for the semifinals. However, that same issue does not apply to the McGowan home. It is an incredible feature.

The technology allows for multiple different floors — whether that be a track, a basketball court, a pickeball court, badminton court or a soccer field. It can all be controlled from a tablet, which also allows for real-time writing.

Here’s another look:

The German basketball club Bayern Munich uses this LED glass design for its practice facility. Every college basketball program — and even NBA program — should do the same. I am surprised it is not already used all over the country.

Instead of using a whiteboard or having to break down the film after practice, coaches would be able to make real-time adjustments on the floor, under the players’ feet. It seems like a no-brainer. Especially for BYU, because McGowan can pay for install!
