The Sphere became one of the hottest attractions Las Vegas has to offer when it debuted in 2023, and it’s managed to garner even more attention thanks to a man who managed to climb to the top by scaling the exterior.

It’s hard not to be impressed by the spectacle of The Sphere, the 366-foot-tall globe erected in the heart of The Strip in Las Vegas covered in LED displays capable of projecting a wide variety of eye-catching images on the exterior of a building that houses an equally impressive theater that was christened with the help of U2 and Darren Aronofsky.

The fact that The Sphere is, well, you know, a sphere would probably lead you to believe it’s not the easiest structure to climb, and while most people would probably never even think about attempting to scale the building, there was at least one man who decided to do exactly that.

According to KSNV, emergency services were dispatched to The Sphere on Wednesday morning when police received calls concerning an individual who’d begun to make their way up the massive dome, and multiple videos captured the man in question heading to the top before pacing around the summit after a successful climb.

According to The New York Post, the daredevil in question is Maison Des Champs, a free-climber and activist who’s been dubbed the “Pro-Life Spiderman” after previously making his way up other imposing buildings to try to raise money for pregnant women in need.

Des Champs posted a video he filmed atop The Sphere explaining his motivations while stating he was told to exit the roof via an access hatch at the top. He’s previously been arrested for similar acts in other cities, and he met the same fate when he was finally detained for what the Las Vegas Police Department described as a “publicity stunt.”
