Just when you think airlines and flying can’t possibly get any worse, Delta comes along and lowers the bar even further.
The last time we checked in on Delta Airlines their in-flight napkins were making their passengers very nervous wondering what the company’s true intentions were.
This week the same questions remain, but the reason for passengers’ concerns this time is much more chaotic and completely inexcusable.
This particular Delta flight from New York’s JFK Airport to Miami International Airport was supposed to take off at 3:52 p.m and land 7:14 p.m. It ended up not leaving JFK until 11:10 p.m. and landing at 2:28 a.m.
That would be a 7-hour, 14-minute delay for those of you scoring at home, which normally wouldn’t be worthy of our attention.
However, Delta kept the passengers of Flight 2385 stuffed into their Airbus A320 for most of the entire delay. It did not go well.
The resulting chaos was therefore more than understandable as people started to lose their sh*t being trapped on the plane for so long for what started out as a weather delay, turned into an air traffic delay, then became a refueling delay.
1/ Passenger on the flight. It’s miserable. Started as a weather delay, then turned into an air traffic delay, then became a refueling delay. Flight attendants have admitted this is chaos and they know nothing. Claimed the gate crew ditched us at one point

2/ And proceeded to call the cops because they didn’t feel safe due to rising tensions on the flight. We’ve been offered a bag of cheez its and 2 cups of water since we boarded at 4:45pm (original boarding was scheduled for ~2:40pm). Awful experience

That’s right, armed police had to enter the plane to defuse a fight between passengers.
👇🏼A small sample of the increasing chaos happening right now aboard Miami -bound Delta 2385.
It’s sitting on the tarmac at JFK for 8hrs now (!)… passengers kept onboard with no clear info and now armed officers responding to a fight…@Delta ? Response? pic.twitter.com/UgHhmGMJ59— Glenna Milberg (@GlennaWPLG) August 16, 2019
Thank you for sharing this with us. The Port Authority Police and the Airline are on the scene mitigating the situation. *NV

Looks like fun, doesn’t it?
This has gotten out of control - there are people fighting each other and it’s gotten both verbal and physical. Police are on the plane! Complete chaos! I understand weather delays and we all want to be safe but this is not about weather but about how Delta has handled it. pic.twitter.com/byBjcrF7Rl

@Delta 8 HOURS and counting. Captain had “no idea” where the ground crew was. Parked in a “remote gate” in JFK. No food, no water. A fight broke out, police was called. A NIGHTMARE. @nytimes @ABC pic.twitter.com/iUHjZqofy8
