HBO’s Entourage has been off the air for 15 years but it was back in the news this week. That came after actress Debi Mazar, who played ‘Shauna,’ Vinny’s publicist, conducted an interview with The Times UK where she claims the show became “toxic” for her after she had her second child and went through a period of weight gain and weight loss.
Entourage creator, Doug Ellin, took to social media to deny that this was ever a reality and clear the air that her weight was never at any point a topic of discussion amongst the showrunners.

In the interview, Mazar said “season one was a joy-fest. But in the third season, the set was a testosterone-fueled environment. I’m tough, but it got toxic towards the end for me.” She added “I’d had my second baby and they didn’t like that I got fat, even though I got skinny again. It was complicated because I’m outspoken and never held back my discontent. But I always was professional and I’m grateful I was on it. It was a lot of fun, until it wasn’t.”
Those are pretty heavy allegations in the 2026 Hollywood landscape, even if the events she claims took place a decade and a half ago. Doug Ellin, Entourage creator, saw her comments and took to X to deny this was ever the case.
He wrote on X “my thoughts are this is disgusting. Never, ever did myself or anyone that matters care or discuss Debi Mazar’s body. I would one million percent embrace any woman who got pregnant.”
Ellin continued, saying “the only bodies on the show I ever commented on were Adrian’s ( I wanted him more muscular) and @jerryferrara who I wanted fatter. I will forever feel bad about that because I didn’t realize the health implications at the time and now couldn’t be happier for Jerry’s transformation.”
At the end of the day, Debi Mazar’s reality was her own. The same goes for Doug Ellin. It is impossible to say for certain what life was like on the set 15 years ago but it is highly possible none of this back and forth would be occurring if there was clearer on-set communication 15 years ago.
