Eli Manning is not letting Glen Powell off the hook. The two-time Super Bowl champion continues to mock the 35-year-old actor for his ability to throw a football. Rather, his lack thereof!

Powell and Manning’s unique friendship came to exist shortly after the former starred as ‘Hangman’ in Top Gun: Maverick. The scene where all of the pilots were playing football on the beach stood out to the latter.

Eli Manning thought/thinks that Powell’s form was terrible and called him up to make fun of his arm. In his own defense, Glen Powell joked that Manning had never thrown a football while covered in coconut oil.

It was a fair point. That has most certainly never happened.

Now, more than 20 months after Maverick’s release, Powell is set to star in a new role that is loosely based on Manning’s alter ego. The 43-year-old quarterback showed up to Penn State football’s walk-on tryouts disguised as Chad Powers. Nobody except head coach James Franklin was in on the prank.

Eli Manning wants to help Glen Powell get ready for his new role!

Manning’s skit was so funny that Hulu decided to option Chad Powers’ story into a comedy series.

A high-profile quarterback named Russ Holliday will be played by Powell. He has an attitude and blew up his extremely promising career with bad behavior. In an effort to get a second chance, Holliday disguises himself as Chad Powers and walks-on to a struggling college program.

Manning saw the news and immediately jabbed at Powell.

I hope Glen is working on his QB skills, I saw him throw a football in Maverick… he has some work to do!!

Powell fired right back.

I saved America and you’re nitpicking me about the long ball. Talk to me when you win a championship lathered in coconut oil…

The back-and-forth chatter seemingly ended there. But it didn’t!

Manning waited about 36 hours to extend a highly-coveted invitation to Powell, and made it abundantly clear why he is included. It’s not because he is a tight spiral-thrower…

Glen, you should come to the Manning Passing Academy this summer.

Just to be clear, I am inviting you to be a Camper… Not A Councilor!

The MPA, for those who don’t know, is the most premier quarterback camp in the country. Many of the top signal-callers on the high school and collegiate level descend upon the Mannings’ home state of Louisiana to hone their craft, talk ball, and learn from some of the best players at their position.

Manning thinks that Powell could learn a thing or two!
