Author Ben Mizrich’s new book, Breaking Twitter: Elon Musk and the Most Controversial Corporate Takeover in History, was released this week and Mizrich is making the corresponding media rounds to promote his new book.

He was a guest on CNBC’s Squawk Box earlier this week where he shared his belief that several incidents in the past year ‘broke’ Elon Musk as Elon was ‘breaking Twitter.’ One incident he called out was Elon Musk getting booed during a Dave Chappelle comedy show.

When Elon Musk appeared on stage at Dave Chappelle’s show in SF last December the crowd let him HEAR IT:

After that, Elon tweeted “Technically, it was 90% cheers & 10% boos (except during quiet periods), but, still, that’s a lot of boos, which is a first for me in real life (frequent on Twitter). It’s almost as if I’ve offended SF’s unhinged leftists … but nahhh.”

Author Ben Mizrich spoke about this on CNBC:

Mizrich says that Elon Musk was “shocked” by the boos at Dave Chappelle’s show and added “this never happened to Elon before, and this spiral started.”

Ben Mizrich says things got so bad for Elon Musk that Twitter employees considered calling in a mental wellness check. He said “he (Elon Musk) got to a point where he locked himself in his office, was so upset that the Twitter employees were considering calling in a wellness check by the San Francisco police because they thought he was going to self-harm.”

In an article about Mizrich’s new comments, PageSix discusses Elon Musk’s public battle with mental health. They note a 2017 report where Elon, who suffers from Asperger’s Syndrome, also shared he “may also suffer from bipolar disorder.”

At that time, Elon tweeted “The reality is great highs, terrible lows and unrelenting stress. Don’t think people want to hear about the last two. I’m sure there are better answers than what I do, which is just take the pain and make sure you really care about what you’re doing.”

The new book, Breaking Twitter: Elon Musk and the Most Controversial Corporate Takeover in History, is now out on Amazon ($30 for hardcover, $15 for Kindle, $6 for audiobook). It was released on November 7th and hasn’t hit the Amazon Best Seller charts. That will likely change given that Elon Musk is one of the 5 most famous people on Earth there will be a lot of interest in this book.
