And, no, it isn’t because Eminem is a Detroit Lions fan. Though that certainly would be enough to make a person rather testy this time of year.

The real reasons Eminem went scorched earth on pretty much everyone, from Tyler The Creator and Machine Gun Kelly to Joe Budden and Donald Trump, were revealed in a new hour-long interview with Sway Galloway.

Eminem rarely gives interviews, but in this one The Real Slim Shady discussed some of controversy surrounding his new album Kamizkaze, the Grammys, his relationship with Drake, on the perception that he is an introvert, and much, much more.

On dissing his old friend Tyler the Creator by using a gay slur on “Fall”

“The word I called him on that song was one of things that I felt like, This might be too far. In my quest to hurt him, I realize I was hurting a lot of other people by saying it. At the time, I was so mad it was like whatever. It was one of the things that I kept going back to and saying, I don’t feel right with this.”

His reasons for ripping Machine Gun Kelly, reigniting their beef…

“The reason that I dissed him is actually a lot more petty than [MGK tweeting that his daughter was hot]. The reason I dissed him, first he said, ‘I’m the greatest rapper alive since my fave rapper banned me from Shade 45.’ I could give a fuck about your career. You think I actually fuckin’ think about you? Do you know how many fucking rappers that are better than you? You’re not even in the conversation.”

On being paid a visit by Donald Trump’s Secret Service…

“They came to my studio. They was just basically asking me questions about my lyrics to see what the intent was behind them, and if I was making an actual threat or just expressing myself,”

His feelings about his 2009 album Relapse

Relapse is something that I hadn’t looked at in a couple years, went back to and cringed at. I was like Jesus Christ, I didn’t even realize I was doing that many accents.”

On the misperception that he was dissing Drake on his song “Lucky You”…

“Here’s the thing: Drake will always be in my good graces because he did something for one of my daughters that I will never forget and he will always be in my graces.”

How he feels about the Grammys…

“Never again will I fucking go to the Grammys,” adding, “It’s like they’re so fucking tone deaf to what is actually going on.”

And whether he is as reculsive as everyone seems to make him out to be….

“I think that’s hilarious. I go more places than people think I do. I just do it under the radar. In Detroit we don’t have paparazzi like L.A. or New York.”

Eminem and Sway also touched on a plethora of other topics including Dr. Dre, Joyner Lucas, Jessie Reyez, D12, Joe Budden, Slaughterhouse, sobriety, if he’s been to therapy, rappers who use ghostwriters, social injustice, criticism of Revival, and more.
