We Finally Know When Eminem’s New Album ‘Revival’ Is Being Released

NBC

It’s been over four years since Eminem dropped a studio album, and while we were treated to new music from Slim Shady during his Trump-dissing freestyle at the BET Awards back in October, there was no indication that he was planning on putting out another LP until he started teasing everyone later that month. Since then, there’s been plenty of speculation about when Revival would drop.

We knew we were getting closer to the release date when we were treated to the album’s first single— “Walk On Water” featuring Beyoncé on the track— and it was clear the album’s release was fairly imminent when Eminem appeared on Saturday Night Live to perform an epic nine-minute medley of his new song along with some of his greatest hits.

It took a while, but it appears we finally have a release date for Revival. Dr. Dre hopped on Instagram to share what is most likely the final video in the prescription-drug-parodying marketing campaign, which revealed Revival will finally be released on December 15th.

One can only hope that Dre will produce one (or more) songs on Revival, as the two have frequently teamed up in the past to cook up some fantastic music— including the classics “Forgot About Dre” and “Guilty Conscience.”

Eminem’s past few albums might have been slightly underwhelming, but if the first single is any indication, he’s entered a new era of self-reflection that has the potential to take him into uncharted territory. Whether or not that’s a good thing will be revealed in a couple of weeks.
